Winner of the SXSW pitchfest, One Drop is the ‘badass’ connected glucose meter and test kit that customers are proud to show off because it doesn’t feel like a medical product. The bluetooth connected app tracks blood sugar, meals and exercise, and connects to social groups of diabetics and medical experts. Working for Pensa, I helped our client select an appropriate technology, and redesign it to fit the One Drop aesthetic. I also developed the plastic housing assemblies for the meter and lancing device, vetted contract manufacturers and inspected T1 parts for factory handoff. FDA approved under a 510(k) clearance.
Pensa redesigned the PCB footprint of existing technology, updating the display and minimizing the component stackup. Elliptical domed surfaces with chrome metallized finish require special attention in molding to realize the form.
